Tomasso Perrino says the increasing depth in quality on the G4D Tour has only bolstered his determination to improve as a player ahead of teeing it up at the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna on the DP World Tour.
The Italian will make his third start at his national Open this week but his first since the inception of the G4D Tour in 2022.
Perrino competed alongside two-time Italian Open champion earlier in his career before suffering a serious leg injury in a scooter accident at the age of 17.
He has since gone on to emerge as one of golf's leading players with a disability, winning in the inaugural season of the G4D Tour, which stages events on the same week as those on the DP World Tour and more recently the PGA TOUR.
"In the last three years there are a lot of players that start to play with us because they see the opportunity we have to play on events alongside those on the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR, starting earlier this year," he said.
"Playing in Texas was an amazing experience. A lot of good players are starting to play with us.
"It means we as players must improve, and this year I have started to change my practice to enable me to play well. I think I can improve on how I have played before."
Perrino finds himself sharing the same fairways as star names such as countrymen Guido Migliozzi and Matteo Manassero this week at the Adriatic Golf Club after receiving an invite from the Italian Golf Federation.
While eyes will largely be focused on them, the World Number 10 in the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability is proud to be one of 20 home hopes in action at the fifth of six events on the DP World Tour's European Swing.
"It is a pleasure to play this tournament. "It is difficult for me to stay calm and play my best golf but it is amazing to play a tournament on the DP World Tour and to say thank you to the Italian Golf Federation for giving me the wildcard.
"I know many of these good players in the field because we play alongside the DP World Tour six to seven times a year.
"A lot of them are friends. It is amazing to see them play, how they manage playing on the course, their chipping and so on."
