The top 45 players on the Road to Mallorca Rankings will tee it up in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A at Club de Golf Alcanada from November 3-6, and every man in the field can earn themselves a life-changing DP World Tour card with one big final push.
Some players have already secured their DP World Tour playing privileges for 2022 and will now be looking to finish as high on the Road to Mallorca Rankings as possible to maximise their starts next year, however others will be eyeing a stand-out week to climb into the top 20 on the Rankings.
Race to Number One
Switzerland’s Jeremy Freiburghaus currently occupies top spot on the Rankings on 156,249 points courtesy of his maiden European Challenge Tour victory at the English Trophy presented by Rocket Yard Sports Marketing, however any of the top five – Freiburghaus, JC Ritchie, Alexander Knappe, Mikael Lindberg or Jens Dantorp – will be crowned Challenge Tour Number One should they triumph at Club de Golf Alcanada.
Nathan Kimsey, Daniel Hillier, Freddy Schott, Oliver Hundebøll, Robin Sciot-Siegrist, Kristian Krogh Johannessen, Clément Sordet, Martin Simonsen and Todd Clements would win the Rankings should they win in Mallorca and Freiburghaus finishes no higher than third. Frenchman Pierre Pineau, currently placed 26th, is the lowest ranked player who could win the Road to Mallorca Rankings, but he would need to win the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final and, among other results, require Freiurghaus to finish 45th.
The fight for the top 20
Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final is a week filled with tension and high drama where every single shot counts. Scotsman Euan Walker is currently 21st on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and just 4, 964 points behind Frenchman Jeong weon Ko, who occupies the final graduation spot. With 87,000 points on offer for the tournament winner, nothing can be taken for granted.
The outsiders
Switzerland’s Benjamin Rusch currently occupies 45th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and therefore the last man in. He is on 53,311 points – just 1,427 points behind Italy’s Lorenzo Scalise. Rusch could jump into the top 20 and earn DP World Tour playing rights with a win or solo second in Mallorca, while a third place finish would mean just missing out. Frenchman Adrien Saddier played his way into the season finale with a strong finish to the season and he arrives at Club de Golf Alcanada in 43rd requiring a victory or second place finish to earn his DP World Tour card.
